Invented in Australia in the early 1980’s, dimpled heat transfer tubing revolutionised the tubular heat exchanger in Australia. In contrast to traditional plain or corrugated tubes that don’t self drain, dimpled tubing provided unsurpassed flexibility in heat transfer design, as the depth changed and orientation of the dimples can be repositioned to provide optimum heat transfer conditions. The Dimple profile breaks up laminar flow to induce turbulence in the product and secondary flows.
Teralba’s heat exchangers use a unique ‘dimple profile’ to increase turbulence of the product and service media. The increased turbulence results in a reduction of the total surface area arrangement for a specific duty and creates a high heat transfer coefficient without excessive pressure loss.
